Hi,

Website Auditor reports 2 errors in Site Audit.

It shows that I have 2 pages with duplicate titles and the same two pages have duplicate meta descriptions.

The two pages are the domain's root and the domain's index page.

For example ..
MyDomain.com
MyDomain.com/index.html

The index pages is the default page for the website.

I tried removing the index.html page from the sitemap and this doesn't help.

From a SEO point of view index and root pages are separate URLs and that is why the software marks them as with duplicate content. To prevent this ,you need to either set up a 301 redirect from one page to another, or simply delete all internal links from your website that lead to one of these pages, so as a result the software will see either only the root page or the index page.

Yes, they are different pages if both URLs exist and you have not 301 redirected them. Does it "look" like multiple pages to "google"? Yes, but not in the sense that people should panic about a thing. :)

It is not a problem to get worried. Try changing your meta tag of those pages or if both are the same pages then delete the page without index.
