Yes! always go for as near to 100% as you can, 0%  0%  [ 0 ]
Not necessarily, just beating the competition is the right thing, 0%  0%  [ 0 ]
Just like you say below, read the data and work out what's best for your keyword, 100%  100%  [ 3 ]
Em, something else, let me explain.. 0%  0%  [ 0 ]
I don't understand this, I'm going for a coffee. 0%  0%  [ 0 ]

Hi guys, I would like to propose something here that may be obvious, or, something that you might disagree with.

I am (again) looking down the list of perimeters of a landing page which is optimized for a specific keyword. Now, I am lucky in that although this keyword brings in around 165k searches per month to Google, the competition isn't really that strong (as can be seen by the type of sites that are in the top ten).

WebA tells me that one thing I need to do to improve against the competition is to reduce the image alt text with my keyword in it. My competitors on average have zero, I have 3.

However, I am thinking, why match myself to a bunch of poorly optimized sites? WebA is giving me an optimization result of just 16% for alt text alone because of this but I am thinking I am ok with that because I know 3 is going to be better than none.

The result of course is that I am not blindly going to optimize my site to 100% but use WebA's data to compare and make a decision for myself, and if a total optimization of 43% (for example) is right, then I am happy.

What do you guys think?

BTW, I love the new look site!! :D

Absolutely right.

Although we are doing our best to improve the algorithms that WebSite Auditor uses - but it's just a tool and will always remain a tool. And tools help you analyze and make conclusions, the final authority is your own reason.

So seeing the situation with your competitors as it is presented by WebSite Auditor and noticing their optimization flaws you can easily get ahead of them sacrificing a 'pretty' score.

Crazyoval, cheers for a great thread! 8)

I agree, that's how I use WA. I always consult it based off the data I already know to be true and good for "on page" optimization.

sure, so this isnt a criticism of WebA but more about a technique or how to use it.

Great app... :D
