The differing live plan prices for Pro and Enterprise versions prevented me from upgrading to the Enterprise version.
I'm operating a single private website, so I don't follow a commercial interest. But because meanwhile my site consists of several hundred pages, the SEO activity became increasingly time consuming. That's why I decided to get a SEO tool, to support my SEO effort. My choice was SEO PowerSuite, although the software has its drawbacks; especially the GUI drives me nuts, when dialogs hide input fields and buttons. But that's another story.
As I said I got the Pro version. After using the software a couple of weeks I realized, that I'd rather print the reports and read them on paper instead of reading on screen. The permanent scrolling up and down to jump back and forth between information is annoying (nothing more).
So I decided to upgrade to the Enterprise edition to be able to print the reports. I would have taken bite and invested the "one-time-600" bucks. Even knowing, that it is not economically justifyable. Because I use it for only one website, without finiancial revenue.
Finally I backed off that decision because of the same reason tah statet. The only difference between Pro and Enterprise edition is (according to the feature matrix) the printing and exporting functions (which I would LIKE to use, but I dont HAVE to use). So from the search engine modules point of view, there is no difference. Why does the Live Plan for Enterprise edition is nearly twice the price tag, for obviously the same benefit.
Therefore I'll stay with the professional edition. Actually I don't like subscription based software. If I find a viable alternative to SEO PowerSuite, which is not subscription based, I'd rather buy this tool. But currently SEO PowerSuite is my choice.
A model I would prefer (which might be an idea for the Link Assistant Staff to discuss) is a search engine based subscription model.
Practically I use the german google search only. I'm neither interested in fireball, nor web.de, nor the chinese search engines. A national active business would be interested in all the german serach engines including web.de, etc. An international active SEO business would be interested in all the international search engines.
So why not tie the subscription to search engine packets. Lets say:
- Single search engine = 5$/mo. - National search engine pack (germany, usa, russia, etc.) = 20$/mo. - International search engine pack (all available) = 40$/mo.
Pro and Enterprise versions does not have influence on the Live Plan anymore and the private/commercial idea would still be taken into account.
This way, I would invest in the more expensive Enterprise edition, but would still be able to disburden my tight private budget for private purposes.
However, the software is great, the live plans are acceptable (in my view), but the price model of the Enterprise edition compared to the professional edition is a PITA.
Thanks for listening...
