Hi there!

Beta testing for the new, long-awaited version of our onpage optimization tool WebSite Auditor 2.0 is starting right off. You'll instantly get your version of the fresh WebSite Auditor to try out and give us your feedback, but here is a couple of things we'd like you to read through before actually taking the tool for a test drive.

What's new?

Along with the familiar content optimization module (now moved to the Webpages tab, new WebSite Auditor is fitted up with a unique module for website structure optimization (opens up in the Website tab). It lets you analyze your website as a whole, its architecture and link structure, its HTML coding and general characteristics of your whole domain and individual pages.

So this new module is what you find in the Website tab in WebSite Auditor. Here you can check all your pages for numerous technical factors and fix any problem spots that may hold back your website's rankings. You can monitor HTTP status codes of your pages, identify broken links on them, validate pages' HTML code, estimate their PageRank and Link Value characteristics and much much more.

A beta is still a beta

Don't forget WebSite Auditor is in beta - which means it just MUST have weak points. (Ouch...) Sure we tested the tool here thousands of times but let's be realistic. It is impossible to emulate each and every situation — so now it's your turn to find WebSite Auditor's flaws - and tell us about them.
Yep, it's a common opinion that software developers frown upon people who find bugs in their apps — but WebSite Auditor is not the case. Bombard us with bug reports — and we'll be more than happy! :D

Your efforts pay off

Here's the good news for our most devoted beta testers. We do appreciate your participation, so we're setting up a contest for you, and the 3 most active and helpful testers will grab the licenses for their WebSite Auditors absolutely for free.

No time to hesitate

If you're thinking of joining the beta-testing wave and getting your hands on brand-new WebSite Auditor, you’d better do it without delay, as the beta testing period will last no longer than two weeks from now. So, there is nothing to risk and a chance to add your 2 cents and create a perfect tool together with our team (and probably get a free WebSite Auditor license or just order one at a discount).

How to get started?

To get the motor running, just download the beta version of WebSite Auditor to your computer.

Apply your BETA KEY

To get access to ALL features that we stuffed into WebSite Auditor, you need to enter the special beta-testing key you see below.

You need to go to Help -> WebSite Auditor Registration Info... and copy-paste the following key data into the corresponding fields:

Registered By: Beta Tester
Registration Key: WA-efx6qGgutq2ABpbd

How to report the bugs you find?

We tried to make bug-reporting as easy as possible for you and thought our forum is the best option.

So, as soon as you find a bug in the software, shoot your message to this forum thread, trying to give us as many details as possible. We'll be checking up new posts constantly, as we're impatient to hear what you say!

Now you're well instructed and ready to run the tool. Go here to download the new WebSite Auditor and don't delay to send us your feedback!

P.S. As you probably know during the beta-testing period you can order the new fully functional WebSite Auditor (or the full SEO PowerSuite pack) at a very low special price. We are planning that the beta stage will last till August 3rd, though it may end earlier, and the price will go up again. Therefore we recommend to use the special offer now. Go here to check the offer if you are interested.

Linux Mint user. Installed and ran my first site. (Did this before being able to register as a beta user with the key, which I think might be backwards. Would be nice to have been prompted to enter that info first, and then be prompted to enter a url, but that's just a preference).

Anyway, entered the url, it did its thing, and then it said something about me being a free user, and did I want to upgrade. When I said no, it pulled up a big error message. Despite the error, the results seemed to be returned with no problems, and I didn't actually have to close it down. I then entered the beta key, and clicked Rebuild, and it reprocessed it fine.

The big error said, "Website Auditor has performed an illegal operation and should be closed down. Sorry for inconvenience."

I've also captured all the error messages from the terminal and can send that to you if you want. Here's a sample from that...

Next bug:

Report is saying that the pages that I've 301 redirected to new pages are returning 200 header codes, when that isn't the case. I've checked in numerous header checkers and they all show the old pages showing 301 codes, but Website Auditor shows 200. Maybe it's returning the code for the page it forwards to, I don't know. (Panicked me for a minute there). :)

Next bug - or maybe it's just a feature not available to beta users:

Blank website report. Clicked on Website report tab and got nothing for my efforts. :) See screenshot at http://www.dazzlindonna.com/images/blankreport.png

Web PAGE report is also blank, although all the other tab options for a web page work fine.

Thanks so much for your input!

Concerning the first bug:

here's the description & solution to this problem:

http://www.mozdev.org/pipermail/mozswin ... 00243.html

So this helps:

ln -s libgtk-x11-2.0.so.0 libgtk-x11-2.0.so

Whooops! My bad. I had to first get to the right directory.

So, run cd /usr/lib first, then ln -s libgtk-x11-2.0.so.0 libgtk-x11-2.0.so and that solved the problem.

Guess what else it solved?

Website Report and Webpage Report screens are no longer blank! :)

Just run a site through version 2 of WSA. This is something I should have done regardless of WSA. WSA tells me via the validator that I have errors on my homepage. The homepage was written with expression web (Microsoft) and the validator check I run on MS expression web says - no errors - who do I believe ?

Just started testing on a website with the following structure :-
/
/default.htm
/accommodation.htm
---/bed1.htm
---/bed2.htm
---/dine.htm
/attractions.htm
/contact.htm
/links.htm

With "scan page down" 1 click it reports all pages except "dine.htm"
With "scan page down" 2 clicks it reports all pages
Could be a looping error missing the last sub-page??

Also with 1 click depth I would have thought that only the
/default.htm
/accommodation.htm
/attractions.htm
/contact.htm
/links.htm
pages would be reported ?

http://www.hillfieldhouse.co.uk
nb. This is not my site...I have the job of re-writing it :)
