Very minor issue. Just wondered why there are two sets of default values. When you start a new project with expert options enabled you get one set but when you rebuild a project you get another set?

There are two issues here.
Issue 1
Would it be possible to exclude certain pages from the website when creating a new project or re-building one by having an option to use the robots.txt file ?

My reasoning is that if you have gone to the trouble of excluding pages from being indexed by google etc. then there is no point in processing these pages with Website Auditor.

It would mean less processing and a clearer picture for the user.

Issue 2
If I have a large number of pages, delete ones I am not interested in and then do a re-build the deleted pages re-appear.
I can understand why you would do this but would it be possible to somehow identify them and/or hide/filter them out?

I use x-cart, and part of it's functionality customers can arrange the products in various orders , price

http://www.mydomain.co.uk/shop/photo-mo ... rintable=Y
http://www.mydomain.co.uk/shop/photo-mounts/?sort=price
http://www.mydomain.co.uk/shop/photo-mounts/
http://www.mydomain.co.uk/shop/photo-mounts/?sort=title

which is useful to the customer , WSA V2 counts this has 4 seperate pages - with the same page title, is this what Google does ?

Congrats - thanks for another nice update to your software (so nice to always see things improving and moving forward :) ).

First of all - very nice additional features... and I can't wait to play with it more and use this tool in our strategy work!

Couple of initial beta testing comments:-
a) UPDATE (One factor only)
I ran across one hassle, that would be great to have changed (before out of beta) - namely that it is possible to "update" only ONE or SOME of the currently being used, domain or page ranking factors at ONE time.
What I noticed is that, I had to "update" ALL factors (even if I was adding just one or only wanted to update one only).

b) Update or Rebuild (ONLY URLs list)

Another thing is that it would be great to be able to re-run the URL finding part only in rebuild (e.g. for a deeper level as a 2nd run say) - once again without necessarily running all the ranking factors for those URLs at the same time (logic is that on first run with depth set to 4 and after 4007 URLs had been found & 13 hours, the software suddenly got an "out of memory" error and had to be closed  ...

So with these features,I could run or update the URLs and ranking factors separately, without crashing or wasting time updating all factors.
i.e. don't link the NOT "updating or inclusion" of a "ranking factor" to the DELETING of a ranking factor from the stored / previously run data.

I hope this makes sense - cheers, Asiaplay

The new tool is amazing. It provides great and useful info. Does anyone know how I can go around "Capcha Image"?

@Voodoo1967,

This will be hard for anyone else not being able to see your domain to answer...

However... if you have not set those "sort by" links to "no follow" or set X-Cart to auto add the <link rel="canonical" href="http://www.mydomain.co.uk/shop/photo-mounts/" /> tag for those additional pages or set the page header for those page to noindex e.g. <meta name="robots" content="noindex, follow, noarchive" /> or <meta name="googlebot" content="noindex, follow, noarchive" /> etc.
(NB: these require custom work)... or in robots.txt excluding those pages... then yes, that is how Google will see this situation i.e. as 4 pages, the same as WSA V2 does.
My guess is a lot of users of that cart (and other shopping carts) are making this mistake, as the "sort-by" links, are not java links and can otherwise be followed by search engines.

Check the "cache date" for those 4 pages... if they have a cache date (and therefore are in Googles index), then Google is definitely treating them as 4 duplicate pages ;)
PS: if those extra unwanted pages are indexed, you can exclude those pages from google in a quick fix way - see "Remove sensitive information from search results" in this post http://www.link-assistant.com/blog/new- ... -and-seos/

@AP Writer... the CAPTCHA is a Google set requirement (same exists if you run manual queries on the Google Adwords database), there is unfortunately no way to stop it totally... bascally, it will appear every 30 or so KW Traffic Volume / Searches per period queries.

Cheers - Asiaplay

FIXED!!! (problem no longer exists - maybe update to V2.01 or maybe as the project was saved and then update run... not sure - but works now :) )

Thanks, Asiaplay

WSA2 said that I had duplicate meta desc - see post above from me.
I just logged into my google analyrics account and ran a check on the url's and Google said there is no duplicated meta desc - NOTE TO WSA Dev team - maybe you should look at this - as Google says different to the WSA report - you cant both be right :D

example urls are :-
http://www.cadremont.co.uk/shop/silver- ... sort=price
http://www.cadremont.co.uk/shop/silver- ... rintable=Y
http://www.cadremont.co.uk/shop/silver- ... irection=1

From Google Analytics :-
HTML suggestions

When Googlebot crawled your site, it found some issues with your content. These issues won't prevent your site from appearing in Google search results, but addressing them may help your site's user experience and performance.
Meta description Pages
Duplicate meta descriptions 0

Long meta descriptions 0
Short meta descriptions 1

My Robot.txt file already says for example :-
Disallow: /shop/*printable=Y
Disallow: /shop/*js=*
Disallow: /shop/*sort=*
Disallow: /shop/*sort_direction=*
Disallow: /shop/product.php*
Disallow: /shop/home.php?cat=*
Disallow: /shop/catalog/
Disallow: /shop/search.php
Disallow: /shop/cart.php
Disallow: /shop/help.php
Disallow: /shop/giftcert.php
Disallow: /shop/product.php
Disallow: /shop/orders.php
Disallow: /shop/register.php
Disallow: /shop/icon.php
Disallow: /shop/image.php
Disallow: /shop/error_message.php
Disallow: /shop/offers.php
Disallow: /shop/product_image.php

So I'm not sure why WSA has flagged duplicate ?

Hi Voodoo,

In relation to duplicates of category sorting...
Are you also disallowing:-
a) Disallow: /shop/*price=*
b) Disallow: /shop/*title=*

These can also produce duplicates...

Of interest, is Google showing a 'cache date' for more than ONE URL per category?

Cheers - Asiaplay

PS: if it isn't, then I guess the answer is web-auditor is not using robots.txt when it decides if something is a duplicate title (i.e. differentiating between duplicate and excluded pages, when deciding which are indeed meta title & description duplicates).
LINKY - any comments (is robots.txt taking into account robots.txt when working out duplicate metas?)
