What I am attempting to do is probably not expected behavior of the LinkAssistant software, but without the ability to use the pages output, I do not know how useful this software really is for me.

Let me explain the problem. I am using Joomla 1.1.15. It is a great system, I love it. I also use a sytem called sh404sef that translates on the fly URLs to SEF urls so that when a button is anchored, it is anchored with keywords and not php variables. Pretty cool.

With Joomla, content is added via articles, and generally speaking only light HTML is required for the articles.

When LinkAssistant outputs the pages it does a fairly good job of mimicking my site. The main problem with this though is that I use a content management system so I do not have to manually maintain buttons and elements.

So I stripped out all but the useful information on the template by creating a bare bones HTML file and pointing the LinkAssistant template creating wizard at that. My next step was to take the Links.html file and use Joomlas "Wrapper" function to wrap that in an IFrame.

I guess you know where this is heading. For one, it's in an effin IFrame, for two, since the links hardcoded in the template are not relative (they are absolute) I get a "site in a site" effect.

Some people suggested in a different thread that I add a component to handle including outside date. Well, that would be fine without the sh404sef, but with it, forget it! Also, I am not adding that security risk when I should be able to generate this single page, and then copy/paste it into an article in place!

So the question I pose here is: Can the template be generated entirely on one page instead of the collections of pages the software makes. The frustrating thing here is that the preview generated shows as a single page. When it is output it is several.

If I could get this to one page, that would basically solve my problem. If there are links that point back to the domain I am using, I would need those to be relative, but I would rather not have any additional links besides the ones that are outgoing.

Any thoughts or help?

Thanks!

This is what we wrote about creating a on-page link directory:

i
Quote:
f you still want to have the link directory on one page - that's possible as well. Please create a new link directory in Preferences -> Link Directory settings -> Link Directory templates. Select "plain", not "tree-like" and on the following step put a check "split into pages" and enter some huge number that you are not planning to exceed :) Say, 10.000. Finish creating the directory and preview it - it will all be on one page. After that yo can put the link submission form above the links - locate it between the code

Code:
<[!-- Links exchange invitation - Start --/]>
<[!-- Links exchange invitation - End --/]>

And cut/paste to the top of the body text.

Saving the directory locally as HTML will let you open the HTML file and extract the code between the <body> </body> tags to paste it to your CMS
