It's been running over 30 minutes but still not verified or otherwise concluded.

What might be hanging up the verification?

The backlink pages exist, it's just that the backlinks are not on those pages.

In such cases please send us your project via Help -> Send project to support after the verification's done. Or, if the process hangs, then please stop the verification and click Help -> Send project to support. Indicate the URLs that caused the delay during the verification in the comment field — we will take a look at them and try to reproduce your error.

Very often the reason is in these pages — they can contain code elements that cause such reading problems. In any case, we need to take a look to come up with a solution.
