Per customer service it's not their fault. They said I'm processing too many links at a time and suggest doing 100-200 links at a time! Seriously!? Most of my competitors have over 7,000 links. Like I said before, I was easily processing over 1500 links at a time prior to 4.8.1. Now I can barely do 500.
Try limiting your number of simultaneous tasks to, say, 10 (Preferences -> Misc. Global questions). That should make the analysis more stable, and you can try updating batches of 1000.

I have my simultaneous tasks set to 5! As of today, I can only process 150 links at a time!
Could you add a maximum limit for links analysis? Let's say count just first 10.000 links and then stop.
... So once you gather all of your backlinks, do not click "Yes" on the next dialog box ("would you like to update ranking factors..."). Instead, select, say, 1000 backlinks in the table, click "Update" and update only the ranking factors you're interested in, that would go easier on your computer's memory.
1. Listed to what the admin said. I had 8000 backlinks, analyzed their PR and when it was done the software was frozen. The second time I have analyzed a lower number of backlinks and it worked just fine.
2. Drop Alexa. The results in there are not relevant.
actually just went back to SEO spyglass and now it can not even display the program correctly...there seems to be an issue handling the display of the program...the screen is just sort of blank when i click on it....
any help appreciated. ranks tracker does this also sometimes but recovers if you give it a sec.
