Ok, so we're now at 4-20-11, and although I haven't been in here in probably well over a year, I thought I'd take a look and try to ascertain when Linky might be moving to Majestic SEO for their(and our) main backlink resource?

As you might imagine, I was a little disheartened when I searched "majestic" in the forum, and found only one place where it had been touched upon. Unfortunately it was only in the context of importing backlinks from another source.

I can't believe that someone else hasn't already asked this:

So, to the question; Do you have any intentions of moving to Majestic any time soon? If you look around you'll see that most of the larger providers have long ago made the switch, and so in my opinion there isn't even an option here, and the longer you wait, the further the disparity in quality data between the products here (that use link data), and the rest of the services/software out there in the SEO world.

Don't get me wrong, I get that you've got a free resource now (other than whatever labor expenses you incur to properly extract the Yahoo, and other small source's data), and Majestic will cost you some cabbage. But really? Are we not even considering this move at this time? Am I missing something here?

Forget the fact that at this juncture, Spyglass has inferior backlink data for all its existing customers, but you guys have to know that any half-ass savvy SEO person looking to procure his or her first backlink service/software, is going to realize(After like 20 minutes of reading recent posts regarding backlink services/software in any SEO forum) that Spyglass is using seriously inferior resources as its backlink data provider, and they'll have no choice but to go elsewhere.

It can't be that high of a cost barrier for you, as Market Sam for example added in Majestic long ago, and they don't even have the recurring charges that you have to help absorb that expense.

Well, that's my 2 cents anyway. If I'm missing something here, please let me know, and I'll eat the proverbial crow.

Thanks guys, and I appreciate hearing your thoughts on this.

Doug

Yes, we have thought about it, although naturally have not announced that yet. We will add Majestic SEO's results to our software eventually, although now it's not yet clear when and on what conditions.

Did you try using Blekko, the new SE? It does give out a large amounts of backlink data as well.

They actually do have recurring charges which start a year after you purchase the license... :)

+1 vote on this.

Even the option to get backlinks using Majestics API (on my expense) or something as simple as adding external backlink lists to existing projects (like the simple textdumps that Majestic and other services) would make me renew my enterprise Live plan for Spy Glas. As it is now it doesn't provide enough value for me. A shame, since it's a great product otherwise.

I'm looking forward to this integration as well. It would actually make spyglass much more useful.
