Does SEO Powersuite keep track of *which* of the proxies being used is temp banned, or does it simply move to the next proxy in this case? See my example

Is it this...

Proxy1 banned 5 minutes in, has been out of rotation 0 minutes
Proxy2 fine
Proxy3 fine

Proxy1 banned 5 minutes in, has been out of rotation 7 minutes
Proxy2 banned 12 minutes in, has been out of rotation 0 minutes
Proxy3 fine

Proxy1 banned 5 minutes in, has been out of rotation 10 minutes
Proxy2 banned 12 minutes in, has been out of rotation 3 minutes
Proxy3 banned, no proxies left. Individual search engine pause of configurable ## minutes kicks in.

Proxy1 gets un-banned status at 10 minutes + ## minutes?

Or...

Does Proxy1 regain un-banned status at ## minus 10 minutes?

I am trying to figure out how many proxies I need, and understanding if SEO Powersuite re-uses proxies after un-ban period has expired, and what that expiration period is based upon, will both help me pick the right number.

Thx

Thanks for the question. We have optimized proxy rotation recently and it works in a more even way now. The point is that all the tasks are distributed between the proxy servers evenly. Each new task is assigned to a new proxy server, or to a proxy that has performed the least tasks. Previously all queries went through one proxy until it became unresponsive, then the next proxy was used.

Concerning blocked proxies - there are two ways a proxy can get blocked by a search engine. One way is being offered a CAPTCHA code, then this proxy is "left alone" for 60 minutes and other proxies are used. Another way of being blocked is not even having a CAPTCHA code to enter, a complete block. In that case a proxy server is left for 180 minutes without any tasks assigned to it and other proxies are used.

Ok, so now we are spreading out the queries so that it takes longer to ban each proxy. But, there are hard minimums on time to un-ban a proxy at 1 and 3 hours.

Can you tell us how many queries it typically takes to get temp-banned or captcha-challenged?

I am trying to plan for private proxy capacity/subscription pricing.

Thanks!
