It is always better to have a dedicated hosting for your website. Shared hosting can harm you only if you have "bad" neighbors in the same IP block (like, for example, a porn site doing black-hat SEO). As long as your neighbors aren't getting penalized, you're fine with a shared IP.

Dedicated IP addresses are required if you want to do ecommerce onsite, otherwise there are no real benefits to them.

A better solution is (if you can afford it) have your own server.
