Hi,

I've just downloaded the free trial version of SEO SpyGlass, and may be looking to purchase the full version but I need to know the answer to a couple of questions first. I just ran the software to 'spy' on a competitor and it returns the 1000 backlinks, but probably around two thirds of these were taken up by just 2 / 3 sites, so my questions are:

1) are there any plans to upgrade the number of links returned to over a thousand?

2) is there any way I can set it so that it only returns one link for one site - i.e. instead of 300 for www.abc.com/e, www.abc.com/d, www.abc.com/c etc?

3) is there anyway I can run it so it returns a thousand links, and then run a second time on the same site to return different links?

Thanks, James

Hey, I currently have SEO Spyglass Pro and have pretty much the same question. Basically, once I've gathered the first set of backlinks at 1000 per search engine, is it possible for me to run consecutive times to get additional backlinks? I have a competitor that has over 9,000 Yahoo! backlinks and I can only get the first 1,000. (or i don't know what I'm doing which is totally possible).

thanks,
brian

yes, that is the limit of the search engines. They give you a count of backlinks but show you only 1000. For instance you can't see the backlink #1001:

https://siteexplorer.search.yahoo.com/s ... sfp&b=1001

The way around that would be to gather backlinks in different regional search engines, use proxies for repeating searches and accumulate backlinks with time, as search engines change the list of backlinks they give out.

Since SEO Spyglass uses Yahoo to find the backlinks, and the Yahoo API allows for 5000 results, why won't SEO Spyglass do 5000 if we have a Yahoo API?

I'm okay with making some registry changes if need be :)

Thanks!!

hhmm, I thought this was a valid question? I'm a paying customer if that counts for anything :)

Yes, absolutely valid one :)

Right now we have a limit of 1000 no matter if there is an API or not... We will analyze your suggestion, however, and in the future versions this might be changed.

Awesome! I can't wait to see it in the NEXT version! :P Just kidding, thanks for considering this guys. It would be massively beneficial and be a great selling point as well. 8)
