Hi there!

I am wondering how many directories a day are ok?
How many entries would you suggest?

Thank you!
LS

I mean,
does it make sense to sign in at 20 or more directories every day or just a few per week?
What do you think? Any experience?

Thanks a lot!!!

It's hard to tell and give a number because there are so many factors in play. One is when will Google notice your link in a directory. Meaning if you submit to 20 directories then will Google notice you submitted to these all on the same day. If not then it might consider your submissions to not be that frequent and no cause for alarm. Therefore I think 20 would be fine. From what I've heard you don't want to get around 50-100 links a day (I don't know if I agree with that or disagree). Although an interesting approach would be to take the average number of back links your competitors have and then take their domain age and calculate out how many links a day that would be if they got an even amount each day and then you could use that as a safe number.

Hello,
Even if he does submit links to 20 directories a day, it is unlikely to see all of the links accepted, even when you buy some directory submission service and submitted to 200 directories a day, it takes around month to see all of them in action it doesnt reflect in single day, as of my experience 80% of directories undergo manual review, so it is obvious that link will be updated in a month. Hope you got it what i mean.

Kaustubh, thanks for the great addition...

The major thing you must keep in mind is the "natural way" of adding links. We know that Google doesn't think that cheap-$5-directory-submission-into-1000-directories just for links is a good and natural way of growing your links - that's why you must show Google how *organic* you're ;)

For a new site start with, say, 10-30 a day, and then keep adding the same amount every day, or increase them slowly (since your site grows, it should get more and more links.) But if you submit your site into, say, 5000 directories overnight, and then forget about this for half a year, and then one day you decide to repeate the procedure once again - this doen't look natural anyway, and you might get into trouble then...

Yeah thats true. for that situation thats absolutely allright, if you are certain about link placement, you should consider the ratio that goes up every month with no of backlinks, i took the scenario as if he is going to use old fashion manual directory submission which is likely to expose link week by week in directory.
