I want to optimize my English website for a keyword and for many countries, basically the whole world.
I only focus on Google.
Everyone who uses Google (web) should find my website in the top ten search results, no matter if this person is in China, the US, or Europe (I am leaving away here the problem of local langiage searches - for them I have separate pages written in the country language.)
Broad question: Out of a bunch of similar keywords: How do I identify the keyword with the best KEI?
Sub Question: Which search engine do I use in the RT Preferences KEI Settings Competition section? - just any Google? - the Google from the country with the highest number of searches? - Advanced Google: from the country with the highest number of searches?
Thank you

Don't worry so much about KEI.
Just research for keywords with high searches, and low competition. I consider high searches anything above 500 on Wordtracker, and anything above 5000 on Adwords. I consider low competition any keywords that throws less than 2 million pages listed for that keyword on G.
And remember that since 2010, social media is a premium factor, so start getting fans to your page from Facebook, and Twitter.
As an example, I have a competitor whose site is only 5 years old, has many less backlinks than my site, but has 4,000 Facebook users while I only have 100. Now, that competitor ranks higher than me on the first page of G, when before it wasn't even on the third page of G, and I have been on 1st page for ever.

Thanks. For the Competition: Do you calculate it country by country?
If you want to know about competition from the US, do you calculate it using Ranktracker "google.com" or Ranktracker "Google USA Search:loc US" as Search engine?
