i have a list of keywords in excel sheet in front of me ,
now i need to select my target keywords from this list roughly 100KW,my excel sheet contains factors like Searches,Competition ,KEI.

Can you please advise my while selecting target keywords which factor i should consider the most ,

will it be with highest kei alone,
will it be with highest searches alone,
will it be with highest competition alone,
OR
if you want me to combine any two from these three,
OR
IF if i go for the keywords with high KEI, any other factor to consider, for selecting best target keyword ?

please, please let me know , i am waiting for your kind response,
May God Bless You,
Ali Raza

Thanks for your question.

Ideally you should compare keywords to each other using all three columns.

KEI could be high in two cases:

- a keyword has a very high number of searches and at the same time very high competition. Ranking high for these keywords requires a huge budget but the revenues will be huge as well.

- a keyword has a relatively high number of searches and a relatively low number of competition. Those are the keywords you want to find. That is why you need to look at at least two columns at the same time - how big the KEI and the Competition are.

Also please consider gathering competition data using advanced parameters, like "allintitle:" in Preferences -> KEI Settings -> Competition. This will give you a more detailed picture of your competition (for instance the allintitle operator will display the number of sites that have the keyword in the title, that is are really optimized for it.

Thank you very much for reply,

What i understand Sir,that while selecting target keyword , we should consider only those keywords which are having high kei value and low competition ,
am i right?
and

Sir,dont you think so that we will get more preicse results by implementing Formuala kei with r ((4-r)/3*Sv2/c) instead of simple kei(Sv2/C),
cause while implementing kei with r , we implement artificial intelligence ,and give a value from (1 to 3) to keyword, which makes result more precise, which cannot acheived by simple kei ,

i am using kei with r,am i going in right direction?
Please clarify ,Thank you

Regards,
Ali Raza

re above quote "Also please consider gathering competition data using advanced parameters, like "allintitle:" in Preferences"

Where can I find more information on these advanced parameters and what they mean and so effective or not they are in keyword gathering ? - I have looked in the Forum, I have looked in Knowledge base and even in the SEO book - cant find anything (or are they insignificant ?)

You can read more about the effect of these operators here:

http://www.googleguide.com/advanced_ope ... rence.html

Basically all they serve for is narrowing down your competition to sites more relevant to your keyowrd. When you update competition without any advanced parameters you get the number of all results for the keyword in the selected search engine. Pages that mention the keyword once in some insignificant part, like a comment, will also be contributing to how big the number is.

However, when you gather only the pages that have the keyword in their title tag, or in the actual URL, then you are looking at the competition number that shows pages that are really relevant to your keyword and/or optimized for the keyword. So the numbers in your Competition column represent the competition that is really relevant to your site/keyword.
