I have 4 pages that are coming up with duplicate Meta titles and Meta Descriptions, these pages relate to the same pages for example:

http://www.BatchWord.co.uk/ and http://www.BatchWord.co.uk/index.html

batchword.co.uk/members/ and batchword.co.uk/members/index.html

This is pointing to the domain URL and the homepage!

So these are of course duplicated!

Is there something that can be set to avoid this?

Thanks

Well this is the exact situation you might want to avoid. The best way would be to set up a 301 redirect on http://www.BatchWord.co.uk/ and point it to http://www.BatchWord.co.uk/index.html - or vice versa. Whichever way you like it is fine, but you need to keep just one page.

I have put two 301 redirects on my site for http://www.BatchWord.co.uk//index.html which now goes to http://www.BatchWord.co.uk/, this is still showing on my report after rebuild?

The members.batchword.co.uk/index.html now goes to http://www.members.batchword.co.uk/ this is still on my report

What have I missed?

I have just checked these again and they now seem to be working?

There must have been a delay or my report didn't update correctly. There are no duplicate pages with meta titles or meta decriptions!

I have rebuilt my report for my site this morning and discovered that it's displaying ny http://www.BatchWord.co.uk/ and my index.html page as duplicate pages again?

I have a 301 redirect on the index.html page to take it to the site URL, that is working OK, but the duplicate title & descriptions are still relating to that page.

Also I have just discovered that one page batchword.co.uk/buddhist_crosswords.html is showing with a broken external link st: tryit.adobe.com/uk/cs5/dreamweaver/?sdid=GQICR&
which is not on the page?

Confused again

The "Home" link in your top horizontal menu still points to index.html page, so it is getting listed in your project. However, the HTTP status code is correct, a 301 redirect, so it's not a big deal. If you wish to not see the index.html page anymore you need to direct your "Home" link to the real new homepage.

As for the broken link - please see the picture below, just created a project for your site. Try pressing "Update" for the factors you need, looks like you're looking at the outdated report:

Thanks for the reply:

I have updated my index.html page still shows on my report as HTTP status 200 success and not 301 redirect? How do I redirect my index.html page to the new home page on the report?

my broken link has now gone.
